Vance sparks controversy with claim free speech is 'in retreat' in Europe • FRANCE 24 English
US Vice President J.D. Vance on Friday used his speech at the Munich Security Conference to criticize Europe for what he said was censorship of free speech and said the continent faces a "threat from within," without offering any specifics on ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict. It sparked an angry repsonse from German defence minister Boris Pistorius who said Vance’s intervention was “not acceptable”. Meanwhile, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was ready to meet Vladimir Putin face-to-face once Kyiv and its allies had agreed a plan for how they want to end the war.
