The Marksmanship Medal is awarded for qualifying as an expert marksman with the Beretta M9, or M 16 rifle. To qualify at the expert level a superior score must be obtained on an approved weapons qualification course. This video looks at the Navy sharpshooter badge going back to 1910 and the expert rifleman medal of 1941, Plus the expert pistol shot medal of 1955. In addition to the Navy expert rifleman medal and navy expert pistol shot medal there is a silver E device for the ribbon and a bronze S device for qualification as a sharpshooter
