Upcycled Pallet Pie Safe with Hand-Punched Tin Panels
I love bringing new life to old materials, and this pie-safe build is a perfect example. I took a stack of old pallets, broke them down, and crafted a one-of-a-kind pie safe inspired by how folks in the 1800s might have repurposed whatever they had on hand a century ago.
Listen to the rhythmic sounds of breaking down pallets, chiseling intricate details, and hand-punching tin panels in this ASMR-style woodworking project. No talking—just the raw, satisfying sounds of the build.
This project was also inspired by Jason over at @EpicUpCycling. His channel is packed with incredible projects that showcase the art of turning discarded materials into something extraordinary. If you haven’t seen his work yet, I highly recommend checking it out—he does top-shelf work!
I hand-punched four custom tin panels for the doors (they’re actually made from roofing flashing) with designs my daughter drew, so each one is totally unique. The cabinet also features two drawers at the top, and it’s all wood—no plywood here. I finished everything off with several coats of Danish oil to protect and showcase what can be done with old pallets.
Join me on this woodworking journey—from breaking down the pallets to punching the tin panels—and see how I turned pallets destined for the landfill into something special.
Materials & Techniques:
* Reclaimed Pallets: For the cabinet body and drawers
* Roofing Flashing: Hand-punched into tin panels
* Custom Flower Designs: Drawn by my daughter and punched by me
* Danish Oil Finish: Protects the wood and lets the grain shine
