'Tonight with Richard and Judy' was a prime time chat show hosted by Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, an attempt to move the duo on from daytime television. For the launch show, the first interviewee was actor and former American footballer O.J. Simpson, seven months after he was found not guilty of two counts of murder.
The invitation to Simpson was controversial, and in the circumstances the interview had to be somewhat confrontational. Unfortunately Richard Madeley makes a verbal flub at
15:19 and renames victim Ron Goldman as 'Ron Brown' (the US Commerce Secretary Ronald Brown had been killed in an air accident a month before).
Only one series of 'Tonight with Richard and Judy' was commissioned. TX 13.5.96
