Who would win in a fight between a siberian tiger and a polar bear? Watch to the end to find out :)
Tigers and polar bears are perhaps some of the most feared and iconic predators living today. Both of them are apex predators of their environments and support sharp claws and deadly bites. Polar bears are perhaps known for their straight-up brute strength, bulk, and power. They contend with wolves, other members of their own species, and powerful walruses. Tigers are known to be quick and stealthy, and like to lurk in the shadows of the forest; hence the reason why they got the nickname the striped assasian. In this video, a Siberian tiger is mentioned. They mainly hunt boars and deer and also contend with black bears and brown bears. This rivalry usually spaws the whole tiger vs bear debates.
The polar bear; It’s the apex, nightmare of the Arctic; and not only are they the largest land predators on Earth, but they’ve got the strength to back up that title. Polar bears have very thick fur that is isolated with fat. This not only protects them well against their freezing terrain, but it also makes them rather tanky. So, just how large is a polar bear? Well, mature males weigh anywhere between 900-1,200 lbs, and stand about 4.5 - 5 feet tall on all fours. Yeah, that is a massive animal, AND this beast is permanently on bulk mode by the way. So, its fat and thick hide actually protects it well against claws and bites. In fact, when polar bears fight other polar bears, they often times shrug off the injuries due to their sheer durability. And when you see just how large a polar’s paws are, you know it ain't nothing to be messed with.
The tiger; this beast is known as the striped assassin for a good reason. I mean, just look at their physique, they are insanely strong and have the agility to make something like a Chimpaqnzee jealous. But what perhaps makes them so deadly is that they don’t like to be seen. In fact, they are so insanely stealthy that a lot of times, prey walk right beside them without being noticed. But, which tiger should we actually take note of? Well, since we are referencing a polar bear, let’s go with the siberian tiger, also known as the amur tiger. And I mean, it’s basically as fair as we can make it. These tigers roam the frigid forests of Siberia, and because of that, they actually develop thicker coats of fur compared to their other counterparts. But, I mean, it still pales in comparison to the polar bear’s. So just how big is a Siberian tiger? Well, despite popular belief, they are actually the second largest tiger subspecies right behind the Bengal tiger. And this is in large part due to habitat loss and poaching. So, today, the average wild male Siberian tiger weighs in around 353- 418 lbs. Yeah, that's a massive cat. But, y’all are probably used to hearing that these cats weigh up to 600+ lbs. However, the key phrase is UP TO 600+ lbs. Those that due reach that weight are actually unhealthily large captive animals. It’s like saying humans can weigh up to 1000+ lbs when in actuality, that is far from the case.
But, I digress. Even if we take exceptionally large tigers, it’s still getting outweighed by a polar bear by an exceptionally large margin. So, it was never a fair fight to begin with. The polar bear not only outweighs the average Siberian tiger by more than double the weight, but also has thicker fur, stronger bones, and just overall more muscle. So, right off the bat, were in the right mind do people think THIS is a fair fight? Perhaps weapons and how they fight?
