They Lied To Us About Money and Happiness
In this video, I dive deep into a topic that’s been bothering many of us: the idea of chasing societal expectations, only to end up feeling empty and unfulfilled. We’re often told to follow a blueprint—get good grades, land a secure job, find a partner, have kids, and buy a home. It’s the narrative we’re sold, promising happiness, yet for many, the reality falls short. I’ve walked this path and checked all these boxes, but instead of contentment, I found emptiness and dissatisfaction.
We’ve been conditioned to believe that success, financial wealth, and material possessions are the ultimate keys to happiness. But if this were true, why do so many wealthy and successful people still struggle with depression, addiction, and dissatisfaction? In this video, I challenge these preconceived notions and explore the true meaning of happiness, discussing why the traditional playbook may not hold all the answers.
The pressure to keep up appearances and chase after the next milestone often traps us in a vicious cycle. We compare our lives to the highlight reels we see on social media, chasing after what others have, all the while neglecting what truly matters—our internal sense of fulfillment and purpose. I share my own journey of breaking free from these societal norms and the lessons I’ve learned along the way.
True happiness isn’t about hitting milestones or collecting achievements. It’s about finding genuine connections with others, being grateful for what we have, and living life according to our own standards, not someone else’s checklist. I also talk about finding peace in simpler things, like spending quality time with family, focusing on passions, and letting go of external validations.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re stuck in a loop of chasing after societal standards of success and happiness, then this video is for you. Let’s redefine what happiness means and discover how to live a life that’s genuinely fulfilling and true to yourself.

I’m a former Marine, father, and husband with an MIT background working in the tech industry. After 20 years of pushing myself relentlessly, I hit a breaking point. That’s when I realized there are more important things in life than just money and success. Since then, I’ve slowed down and learned to enjoy the simple things in life, especially spending time with my family and being out in nature.
I want to share my experiences and journey with you so we can focus on what truly matters in life: our health, our family, and finding joy in the present moment.
