If MH370 flew south, data recorded by Inmarsat indicated that in its final moments it entered a steep and accelerating dive. To understand how that would have played out, we asked Aaron Murphy of uFly, a commercial 777 flight simulator in Toronto, to see if he could match the descent rates derived from the final Inmarsat ping. The results show how much time remained before the plane would have hit the water, with important implications for the seabed search area.
Many thanks to Aaron and his colleague Claudio Teixeira of uFlySimulator.com for carrying out the recreation.
Special thanks to social media director Emily Morgul-Phoenix, and to reader/viewer/listener Keelie for her research into the Kambala airstrip. For an entertaining look at the activities in the secret missile test range that it's part of -- a facility that has been dubbed Russia's version of Area 51 -- I recommend this YouTube video from the Covert Cabal YouTube channel:
