The Supersonic - Concorde memorial
The Concorde was an engineering marvel, capable of cruising at Mach 2, which is twice the speed of sound. This allowed it to cut the usual transatlantic flight time in half, flying from New York to London in just 3.5 hours. With only 100 seats and a ticket price that could range from $4,000 to $12,000, flying on the Concorde was an exclusive luxury experience. Its iconic delta-wing design and drooping nose made it stand out, and its ability to break the sound barrier created a sonic boom that added to the aircraft's mystique. Despite its impressive speed and luxury, the Concorde faced environmental challenges, leading to its retirement in 2003 after more than 30 years of service. Only around 14,000 passengers ever had the privilege of flying on this supersonic legend, making it one of the most exclusive forms of air travel in history.
