The questions that shook my beliefs to the core - Holy Koolaid

Today I spoke with Thomas Westbrook, aka "Holy Koolaid," who gave his life to Jesus at a young age and became zealous in his relationship with god, but ultimately deconverted as the truth claims of Christianity fell apart. We touched on many topics, including: • Getting saved and becoming very serious about god at a young age. • Feeling a lot of pressure to be holy and repent quickly of any sin. • Battling shame and guilt as he went through puberty as a Christian teen. • Seeing a lot of guys around him quietly struggling with homosexuality. • Growing up thinking the Bible was divinely inspired, accurate, and consistent. • After deconversion, reassessing the literature of the Bible, especially in light of comparative mythology. • Being taught to believe that the earth was very young and that evolution was a ridiculous notion that could not be true. • Realizing that creationists were cherry-picking data and using circular arguments. • Seeing many Christians prove themselves to be fundamentally ignorant or deliberately dishonest. • Looking deeply into the psychology of belief, logical fallacies, self-delusion. • Through various situations, beginning to feel like prayer was futile. • Studying about the origins and evolution of Christian teachings about hell. • Fully deconverting from Christianity and developing a platform to help bring critical information to others. • The importance of challenging harmful ideologies, exposing fraud, promoting reason, and raising awareness about skepticism.
