Many trends in American fashion happen first in Black culture. Black Culture feeds fashion. But only about 7.3% of American designers are Black...which isn’t enough. That’s part of what inspired McDonald’s Change of Fashion program. They wanted to celebrate and support the next generation of brilliant, Black designers––so the culture-makers can eat too. Throughout the past year, they’ve put the designers in the spotlight and connected them with industry insiders for mentorship. During Black History Month, there’s no better time to celebrate and uplift this next generation of creatives. That’s why events like this are crucial to inspiring real change. Tonight, the runway belongs to them.
