(CONTENT WARNING: Discussion of rape, sexual assault, suicide) The Leftovers is one of the most frustrating, incoherent, pretentious… yet alleviating, harmonious, emotionally resonant television series in history, which, despite being one of my absolute favorites, I am often hesitant to recommend, since for you it could be a life altering experience or an infuriating waste of time. It is perhaps because of its love it or hate it nature that I have yet to see a long form review of the series here on YouTube. And thus, this video will aim to serve as a definitive analysis, beginning with a discussion of the structure of the series as a whole, followed by a breakdown of each primary character’s arc, and topped off with a brief conclusion in which I attempt to deliver a concise thesis as to what the hell it all meant.
