The Innovation Dilemma In Motorsport
Is motorsport doomed in its nature? Since the emergence of car racing, people have pushed the boundaries of race cars to the limit of physics, breaking record after record. However, there seems to be a reoccurring pattern within motorsport: Cars becoming faster and faster, but at the same time, way too expensive to operate. The result? Racing categories vanishing and manufacturers ending their racing programs over and over again. Prime examples are the world endurance championship WEC and the German touring car competition DTM.
