The Great St. Bernard Pass from Aosta via Porossan (Italy) - Indoor Cycling Training
This is the most scenic route to the Great St. Bernard Pass, one of the world’s most renowned mountain passes. It has a rich history, having been used by armies led by Julius Caesar and later Napoleon for their Alpine crossings. The pass is also famous for its historic hospice and the iconic Saint Bernard dogs that once rescued stranded travelers. You can reach the pass from both Italy and Switzerland, but this climb takes the breathtaking approach from Aosta via Porossan. Winding through charming villages on quiet, nearly car-free back roads, the route offers a peaceful ascent. A short stretch on the main road brings more traffic, but a tunnel soon diverts it, allowing you to enjoy the upper slopes in near solitude. At the summit, you'll find a stunning alpine lake and the centuries-old hospice, which continues to welcome travelers to this day. In this ride-along video, you’ll experience the climb at the pace of a pro rider. If you’d prefer to ride at your own speed, check below for more details on our indoor cycling app, Open Road. But with music, opinions are very mixed. So we have added no music. Instead, we recommend adding your favorite music to the ride. It is quite simple. Mute YouTube and open a browser window. Find a site that offers music (Spotify, YouTube, etc.) pick the music you like, and enjoy the ride. We have left the original sound of the ride out. This is because of the noise from the surroundings down the natural sound.
