Are the regulators «out to get» C++? Will they stop here or will this get progressively more serious? Should we migrate to other languages? What does «memory safe» mean anyway? And why not just wait for C++ to become memory safe? We’ll look at what has happened lately, why this might be happening and what is likely to happen next. We’ll also look briefly at the feasibility of making C++ memory safe(ish), and if this could stop the pressure to migrate away from C++. Finally, we’ll look at what languages one might consider migrating to, why that discussion invariably ends up mentioning Rust, and some things to consider if you want start migrating.
