The Executions of the Female Guards of Bergen Belsen Concentration Camp
The Executions of the Female Guards of Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp April 1945. British and Canadian troops storm the gates of Bergen-Belsen, a Nazi concentration camp located in Lower-Saxony. According to intelligence reports, only prisoners of war were held there. Instead, what they found inside was tens of thousands of rotting corpses and dying people, mostly Jews. The camp had a staff of 480 Nazis working as guards or members of the Commandant’s staff, including 45 women. The Tribunal that judged the crimes at Bergen-Belsen was lenient towards these women on account of their gender despite their unspeakable crimes. In truth, these women were some of the most cruel and bloodthirsty criminals to ever live in this planet. This is the story of the nine female guards that were imprisoned and the three female guards that were hanged for their participation in genocide, including Irma Grese, the notorious Angel of Death. Together, these twelve riders of apocalypse were responsible for 50,000 deaths in Bergen-Belsen. Welcome to The Marshal Memoirs. The Gruesome Hangings of Female Guards at Hamelin The so-called Belsen Trials happened five months after the Liberation of the camp, even before the famous Nuremberg Trials took place. The Belsen Trial attracted considerable international media attention. It gave the world its first real glimpse of the fathomless horror of the Holocaust, and of the `death factory’ that was Auschwitz-Birkenau. It was also the first occasion on which film was submitted as evidence in a war crimes trial.
