In the 1980s, the home video market was exploding. As video rental businesses popped up across America and stores raced to cram their shelves with as much inventory as possible, Vidmark Entertainment emerged - a distribution company which produced films exclusively for the home video market. Building off of their initial success, Vidmark entered into the theatrical market with Trimark, its new venture. The company had some notable hits, producing the "Warlock" and "Leprechaun" franchises. But as the film industry evolved into the 1990s, Trimark faced multiple hardships that would ultimately lead to its demise.
