The Basics of Semiotics (2): The Three Correlates
Want to learn semiotic theory as an absolute beginner? Want to hear semiotics explained simply and logically? Semiotics can feel like a complex and hard subject, but it shouldn't be. In this video series we'll explore and explain what semiotics is all about in an understandable and simple way. The video series is intended for absolute beginners and is a crash course to semiotic theory and Peircean semiotics. We are now ready to enter to the semiotic labyrinth and learn about the qualisign, sinsign, legisign, icon, index, symbol, rhema, dicisign and argument. The three correlates are three different ways to view the sign. They will help us to form the 9 types of signs and later the 10 genuine signs. The video series is intended for beginners and is a crash course to semiotic theory and Peircean semiotics. The video is heavily based on the book "Minute Semeiotic Speculations on the Grammar of Signs and Communication based on the work of C. S. Peirce" by Vinicius Romanini.
