The Art Supplies I Bought (And Why I'm Conflicted): Not All Regrets
I asked myself: Do I actually regret buying any art supplies? The answer? Not really. But what I DID realize is that there are couple of materials I just don’t use or do note quite reach for—and that, in a way, can feel like a certain kind of regret. 🤔 So in this video, I’m breaking down 7 reasons why artists might "regret" an art supply and sharing examples from my own studio. But here’s the twist—while experimenting, I discovered some of these supplies had way more potential than I thought! ✨ 💡 Do you have any supplies collecting dust in your studio? Try experimenting with them—you might be surprised! Let me know in the comments if you rediscovered a forgotten favorite! The 7 Reasons Artists Might “Regret” an Art Supply: 1️⃣ Wrong Color / Medium ( Bombay Inks) – Thought they weren’t for me, but certain colors, like that Bombay red, are gorgeous! 2️⃣ Didn’t Click With It (Gansai Tambi Starry Colors) – Gold metallic paint didn’t impress me at first on white color, but on black paper? WOW. ✨ 3️⃣ Impulse Buy (No regrets here, but I’ve definitely been there!) 4️⃣ A Regret… for Now? (Geli Printing Kit) – Still haven’t gotten the hang of it, but maybe one day? 🤷‍♀️ 5️⃣ Bad Quality (My son’s low-quality paints....but this aint for me) – Not great, but now I want to test them against pro-grade paints one day as an experiment! 🎭 6️⃣ Too Niche / Impractical (Feather Brush from – BEAUTIFUL, but… do I ever actually use it? 🪶 7️⃣ Outgrown, But Not Useless (Watercolor Pencils) – I don’t reach for them much, but they’re great for playful art sessions with my son! More on  @DANIELSMITHArtistColor  Cabo and Iridescent watercolor: Apparently, the Cabo colors are typically more opaque and retain their vibrancy on both white and toned papers, though they may appear slightly muted on darker surfaces. The Iridescent colors, however, are more transparent and rely on light reflection. They tend to pop more on black or dark-colored paper, where their shimmer and interference effects become more pronounced. On white paper, they can appear more subtle, often working best as glazing layers or accents.
