It’s hard to explain. “…I’ve never seen such a style as this.” -SL: Here, SL mentions the modern style of the library. “…nostalgia.” / “…familiar.” -SL/XL: No this is not because I’ve had them react and I took away their memories, if you look on my YT page, this is the first danmei reaction video I’ve ever made. It’s because the reaction room has an array that produces calming effects so that they don’t freak out that hard when teleported. (Just a bs reason to make not have to work gacha magic and make them go ballistic, this already takes a long time to make and the intro is long enough as it is.) “…because of earli—” -MQ: Mu Qing and Feng Xin have a deep history of a tense relationship, but Mu Qing still feels bad when he sees how shaken FX is after SQ falls on him. MQ is mean but in reality he’s just blunt. “My friend.” -XL: This is the scene in Book 1 of TGCF that starts at around page 180 or so. I cut out small pieces of dialogue here and there but it relatively keeps the same meaning. “Where did his highness meet him?…” -FX: MQ notices San Lang with XL for the first time since teleporting in the room and wonders who he is. FX’s response is an allusion to the scene where FY, NF, and SL meet for the first time. “We didn’t know they went.” -MQ: Allusion to FY and NF’s response to XL asking if their Generals (MQ and FX) knew they were there to help with the Bridegroom mission. (It’s that youth.) -FX: This reflects FX’s wariness of Hua Cheng. MQ is sharing that sentiment but he isn’t vocal about it just yet, he still wants to seem indifferent about Xie Lian, which explains why he doesn’t act as outright as he does while he is Fu Yao. (B-Beloved?!) -FX & MQ: This reaction is triggered because… essentially they never took XL as a cutsleeve BAHAHA. (Husband? With a mortal?) -TH: I don’t know how Tai Hua would react to Hua Cheng and Xie Lian’s relationship, but, this is my take. Before he knows of XL being Guoshi Fang Xin, XL is technically a stranger to him. The only thing he’d probably take notice of is how a God is with a mortal. I don’t even think he’d acknowledge the homosexual aspect of their relationship since he is quite a laidback character (when something doesn’t come to justice). (Ho ho…) -PM: Pei Ming’s canonical response to HC and XL. “I think his attire looks great.” -SQ: All round a gender neutral character so of course she would think so. Tai Hua definitely thought the same ‘of course you would say that’. “…too realistic…” -FX: Allusion to how FX and MQ couldn’t even tell that XL was originally male in the costume. “…heard no less from you, General Ming Guang.” -XL: Allusion to the tension between XL and MQ when they first met in the Upper Court. (Gege?!) -MQ & FX: Reference to their annoyance when they heard SL call XL ‘gege’ for the first time in the novel. “…picky with friends.” -XL: Quote from donghua… i think? Can’t remember. “…thinks too highly…” -XL: Demonstration of XL’s low self-esteem. “…moving portrait as…” -XL: Obviously XL isn’t fooled by FX and MQ’s disguises, but he wants to see if they would actually tell the truth. He doesn’t see a problem when they don’t, since he doesn’t mind. Also, he asks this to keep up his pretence of naïvety. “San Lang, are you alright?” -XL: Hua Cheng dislikes FX and MQ, which was why he was staring at the tiktok with contempt. He doesn’t completely understand why XL holds the two in such a high regard, even though they left him when he needed somebody most, but he’s willing to not be so down in the dumps if Xie Lian doesn’t mind being reminded of it. (…I remember this—!) -MQ: Trauma from being accused of stealing the pearl earring, so he specifically recalls the scene in great detail. Also, he despises being reminded of when he was ‘weak’. “..the speech I used to say when I busked.” -XL: Mentioned in book 1, page 122 (…The busking and pawning…) -FX: Feng Xin accompanied XL pawning off some of his things when they were in need, such as his golden belts. “…I’m not sensitive to the subject.” -PM: in book 3 page 350, he disregards his ‘flings’, so i doubt he has any sort of emotional attachment to Xuan Ji, either. SQ: “He looked… injured. How did you encounter him, Your Highness?” -I was going to have a sequence here that went like this; XL: “…”SQ: “Your Highness?” XL: “Oh, sorry. If I remember correctly…” but i lowkey forgot when making the screenshots so i just scrapped it. (Check pinned comment for more, the whole thing doesn’t fit because of YT’s 5000 character limit.)
