In this video I show how you can create textural elements for either a large scale or small brooch sized coral reef piece using laces, scraps and dyed pieces. You’ll be amazed how many pieces you might have in your scraps that you can use for this easy slow stitching and textile & fibre art project.
I’m inspired by the Nature’s Textures workshop I did with Fleur Woods a year and a bit ago at the beautiful Green Door Studios. In this piece I am using my own techniques to create lots of texture, vibrant colour and interest. It’s great fun taking an idea and then evolving your own creative practice.
I hope you enjoy this project which will give you techniques that you can combine with slow stitching to add interest and texture to your work. #slowstitching
I’ll come back in a future video and show you how you can create a coral reef brooch.
Here’s a link to the video where I dyed some of the pieces I’m using: How to dye doilies & yarn in vibrant colours | New coral reef project | Textile art | #slowstitching
