Textile coral project using scraps, laces & dyed doilies | Fleur Woods inspired #slowstitching
In this video I show how you can create textural elements for either a large scale or small brooch sized coral reef piece using laces, scraps and dyed pieces. You’ll be amazed how many pieces you might have in your scraps that you can use for this easy slow stitching and textile & fibre art project. I’m inspired by the Nature’s Textures workshop I did with Fleur Woods a year and a bit ago at the beautiful Green Door Studios. In this piece I am using my own techniques to create lots of texture, vibrant colour and interest. It’s great fun taking an idea and then evolving your own creative practice. I hope you enjoy this project which will give you techniques that you can combine with slow stitching to add interest and texture to your work. #slowstitching I’ll come back in a future video and show you how you can create a coral reef brooch. Here’s a link to the video where I dyed some of the pieces I’m using: How to dye doilies & yarn in vibrant colours | New coral reef project | Textile art | #slowstitching https://youtu.be/6XiaFnPoF2I As I shared in a recent post, I’m really keen to support and encourage my fellow slow stitch, textile and fibre artists and creators so below each video I will be sharing a listing of others who you may not have come across and may like to visit and watch some videos: Kristy from @SewbitsKristy Sally from @DottyBeeVintage Annie from @artyfartyannie Paula from @Craftaartissaurus Valita from @ValitasCreativeDesigns Leanne from @leannescraftycupboard Martha from @marthamanigross Bec from @Sewbecurated Dawn from @dawnmeldrum1267 K3n from @k3n.clothtales Emily from @CollageQuilter Christina from @christinacreatesau Jen Night Owl crafts from @cookingjennfer Becca from @willowhilldesigns7 Emma from @emmajonesvintagesewingbox Marion from @marionsworld24 Marnel from @miemieskeepsakes Misti from @mistikomakes Missy from @MissyMadeThis Suzie from @suzieqmakes Tori from @KoolKookyKreatures Kathy from @kamahskreations1260 Heather from @creepycutiecrafty Kate from @kate_stitching Kate from @thelasthomelyhouse Kate from @kateinthenest Susanna from @vintageblendstudio Lynda from @lyndacreates Lynda from Icky Chic Designs @IckyChicDesigns Kaylee from @kayleehealy8406 Happy textile art making and slow stitching!
