TEDxVillanovaU - Patrick Maggitti - It's Not Just for Artists Anymore: The Creativity Imperative
Creative problem solving is a skill that is increasingly necessary in today's world. Central to this talk is a discussion of how the collision of seemingly unrelated knowledge and information can bring about creative ideas and how we need to foster cross-disciplinary experiences in order to enable these collisions.
Dr. Patrick Maggitti is an assistant professor of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship and the Carmen and Sharon Danella Director of Villanova's Center for Innovation, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship (ICE Center). Prior to academia, Patrick was an executive and board member in the steel and mining industries where he founded two successful companies.
The author of numerous publications in top management journals, Patrick is a recognized thought leader on management and entrepreneurship and he has been quoted by well-known outlets including the Financial Times, MSNBC.com, Forbes.com, Philadelphia Inquirer, AOL.com, Fox News, NBC Los Angeles. Dr. Maggitti received the 2011 "Villanova University Outstanding Teaching Award" (for faculty with less than 7 years of service) and the 2004 "Allen J. Krowe Award for Excellence in Teaching" from the University of Maryland.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
