Sweet And Lovely | Paul Motian solo transcription | 1961

Second solo from the Bill Evans Trio Explorations Album. I want to be honest. When I first listend to this solo some years ago, I have to say, I didn't understood it, and never liked that much. Today, after a couple years studying Motian's phrasing and solo concept, I can say it is a great piece of jazz drumming. Of course it's something completely different from other jazz drums icons, but this is the main point. I'm talking about: Pauses, sticking, musicality, uncommond rhythm ideas and much more.. that is what makes him ''Different'', what a beautiful word.. yeah, that's it. #jazzdrums #drumsolo #jazztranscription
