SW Opening Framed, Cortex 2 Steel 70%, Megapack #2 Assembly! 19 May 2025 Giga Texas Update (07:55AM)
Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot! Cloudy, a little rain and wind, but otherwise a good day to fly and start the new work week ahead of the Memorial Day holiday weekend! I did see many new Model Y's exiting the factory and driving autonomously to the west End-of-Line (EOL) facility along with several Cybertrucks doing the same, via the Cybertunnel. Over the weekend, transportation operations for the new vehicles obviously went well as most of the vehicles that were stockpiled at the outbound lot, including many Cybertrucks on the north end were all gone this morning! Timestamps: Drone flight overview with discussion & illustration: 0:06 to 3:13 Drone flight footage & infographics: 3:36 to 28:14 In the video introduction, I talk about the change in the Starship Flight 9 scheduled launch date which is now after Memorial Day, so I'll be flying at Giga Texas as per my normal schedule this week, and then I'll let you know what my plans will be for the following week. As a reminder, I am planning on stopping at the Corpus Christi Tesla Lithium Plant on my way to Starbase to get an update video completed. I also point out several interesting developments or progress around the site today, including the framework for the southwest angled corner of the main factory extension. It appears one large receiving door and a smaller human-sized double door are being framed in with steel studs and beams, which suggests this will be covered with a non-glass material which is not at all what I had originally expected when this opening first materialized. I am curious what this will look like and how it integrates into the otherwise full glass wall material of this end of the building. Big progress continues at the north Cortex 20 facility steel assembly, where about 70% of the main structural steel frame and roof decking has been completed. The ground slab under the roof and steel structure will be added later, after utilities are trenched and installed, but for now, it is very apparent getting the structure and roof installed is the priority. More steel was being delivered and sorted by one of the cranes, while the other crane was lifting more beams onto a nearly completed new section of the building. Grade work for the electrical switchyard expansion seems nearly complete, except for the removal of the lower-level power lines and posts, surrounded by the dirt "islands" which shows how different the finished and beginning grades truly are. Once these are removed, then construction of the switchyard expansion can commence. Thank you for watching and I hope this has been informative, educational, and entertaining for you.
