Surviving a cyber security incident at your factory - MorningTech Episode 6
What would you do, if attackers used ransomware to encrypt your factory's critical systems? Or if a denial of service attack overloaded your factory’s servers? Does your company know how to handle such events?
On Wednesday, June 7th a Security Advisor Mitchell Impey emphasized the need for management to be involved in the company’s cyber security incident response plan; to help minimize the negative effects of ransomware attacks on production.
As Mitchell explained, a cyber security incident response plan is part of the company's crisis management plan, not just an IT problem. By understanding the requirements of incident responders when they show up on-site, management can better protect their business operations from cyber security threats. The consequences of such attacks can be severe, including ransomware encrypting critical systems and denial-of-service attacks overloading servers completely stopping production.
