Surfskate Paradise: A Surfskate journey through Maui
Hawaii is generally viewed around the world as some idyllic paradise. For that very reason, I thought I would hate it, I pictured it as an overcrowded, kitschy, tacky, tourist place. Until I actually visited it after having to rearrange travel plans and realized that there is so much depth to Hawaii beyond the surface. The people and history and culture; the surfing and the history of surfing as the sport of kings; the ecological and landscape diversity beyond the cities and beaches... I fell in love with these remote islands, and I fell hard. I have now come to realize that it is also an absolute dream spot for surfskating. Some of the best skateparks I have every seen - One with a bowl so big I got lost in it. Smooth downhill winding roads that stretch up above the clouds. Drainage ditches that go forever and which are smoother than most skatepark concrete. And some incredible and beautiful street spots. I fought through the side effects of Covid and a blistering heat wave to film this, but it was entirely worth it. Hope you enjoy following along on this journey.
