During Lobdell's career, he has taught tens of thousands of students and he wants students to succeed. After watching students cram for eight hours or more for a test without any improvement, Lobdell has developed a studying technique that helps the brain retain the information that you are studying in this video "Study Less, Study Smart" His video became on of the most popular Youtube videos on study skills. In this video I break down the main points that I learned from his video. If you are studying for any type of exam from the bar exam, project management exam, professional certification, history test, college exams or something else these study tips can help you improve your grades and even more importantly what you learn. In his video Study Less Study Smart Marty teaches a technique that we know as the Pomodoro technique where you break your study time down in to chunks such as 30 minutes and then take a 5 minute break to keep your brain fresh and awake as you are studying. This is just one of the study tips that Marty Lobdell gives in his video another is to teach what you learn to others. This is one of the big values from study groups. Richard Feynman taught that when you teach what you are learning to others you will learn it more. This makes sense but few do it. A good way to implement this study technique is to join a study group or teach your friends and family. If none of these are an option then teach it to the wall or a plant or your pet! A big point he makes is that you should know the difference between recollection and recognition. This is big. Recognition is when you are studying and you turn the page and read something and you think, 'I know that.' But what is really going on is that you recognize it. It doesn't mean that you really know it and when they test time is here it doesn't mean that you will be able to remember or recollect it. A great way to test yourself if you are just recognizing material or really recollecting it is instead of just reading the information over and over to study close your book and look away and see how much that you can recall. This will really test if you know the material and you can't trick yourself this way. Here is a video I did on study tips https://youtu.be/UNwic_uRJi4 This was Marty's original video https://youtu.be/IlU-zDU6aQ0 I hope that you enjoy my summary of Marty Lobdells hour long Study Less Study Smart video.
