Studio Technologies Model 372A for a Boom Op's Headset
An overview of how I use the Studio Technologies Model 372A Dante Beltpack to provide a boom operator with a wired headset for monitoring and comms, including the busses and routing configuration on my Sound Devices Scorpio. The headset used with the 372A is a Sennheiser HMD 300 with the CABLE-II-X5 5-pin broadcast XLR cable. My headset connected directly to the Scorpio's TA5 headset port is a Sennheiser HMDC 27. One thing I forgot to mention in the video is that I use my own Headphone preset (you can see it referenced on the home screen/etc as "LR + Comms" that includes the main LR mix bus along with the Comms Return bus so I can hear when the boom op is talking to me. All audio in this video is from the 372A with a Sennheiser HMD 300 headset. No post processing was done on the audio, other than to boost it by 12db. (The closeup of the Scorpio screen gets blown out by the camera when items are highlighted, unfortunately. Sorry about that. But it's still possible to follow along as I explain the configuration.) 00:00 Intro 02:10 Studio Technologies Model 372A Dante Beltpack overview 07:25 Scorpio overview for this video 09:00 Scorpio Config - Boom Op Comms input 11:00 Scorpio Config - Busses 14:28 Scorpio Config - Slate/Comms routing 17:02 Scorpio Config - Tone Generator 17:35 Scorpio Config - Notification Bells 18:05 Using less busses if needed 19:49 Outro
