STORM DARRAGH | A BRUTAL Summit Wild Camp in the Hilleberg Soulo Black Label Tent In this video, I headed out into Storm Darragh for a summit wild camp in the Hilleberg Soulo Black Label. The tent (when pitched and handled correctly) is designed to withstand extreme conditions and many seasoned adventurers use it in some of the harshest locations on the planet. The winds were absolutely brutal, with forecast gusts approaching and in excess of 60mph and sustained wind speeds of almost 50mph. The tent performed flawlessly and I made good use of 'delta ground anchors' to keep the guy lines secure in the extreme conditions. An exhilarating experience in our great outdoors, with the raw power of nature providing a great test of this tent. With festive lights, some relaxing songs and nice food and drink, I enjoyed hunkering from Storm Darragh in the safety of the BL Soulo. I hope this video serves as educational to a degree, showing proper handling of a tent in stormy weather conditions. I decided to pitch north of the wall to experience the storm in a tent which is designed for such weather. *** I have been hiking, scrambling and wild camping since the age of 14 (almost 30 years) and have extensive outdoors experience in various weather conditions, including extreme weather in the UK and Europe. Do not head out beyond your capability - or put yourselves or others at risk. I had full winter gear, spare clothing, emergency blanket, map, compass, GPS, satellite tracker and communicator and enough food and drink to keep me going in the event of a fall or trip - more importantly, I chose a route and location to pitch the tent that was safe and free from environmental hazards aside from the storm itself. A number of people were aware of my location at all times and knew when I was expected back, with the ability to communicate with me outside of cellular data coverage.
