Spectacular Seceda & Ortisei - Dolomites Italy

We are on a huge day trip from Cortina d'Ampezzo to Ortisei and the spectacular Mt Seceda. It took nearly two hours (with a couple of stops) to travel 56km from Cortina to Ortisei. We travelled on SR48, SS242, SS243 and SS244 through stunning mountain vistas and past sheer drops. We wander through charming Ortisei and have a coffee. We then walk and ride long escalators to the Seceda Cable Car. The Cable Car costs €37 pp for a return trip. It's 4550 m long and travels a height of 1550 m. We did not wait long for our tickets and ride up. Seceda offers spectacular scenes of the Dolomites. Gentle slopes give way to sheer rocks faces and drops hundreds and thousands of meters. Seceda sits at 2519 m above sea level. We rugged up expecting it to be cold but the temperature never dropped below 25C - though it was windy in places. We had lunch in the refugio and headed down to Ortisei. We decided to do the longer but less challenging drive back to Corina via the A22, SS48 and SS51.
