Join the Discord! https://discord.gg/hcSZmmSw9C Hey peeps! So today we're going over how to make a simple yet visceral dagger swipe attack sound. These same principles can be applied to any melee weapon, and all the included libraries are linked down below! ~~~~~ Chapters: Intro: 0:00 Sound Preview: 1:20 Examining The Layers: 1:53 Recreating Main Layer: 4:43 Philosophy of EQ: 7:02 Recalling Soundminer Processing: 8:34 *My Philosophy on Becoming a Good Sound Designer: 9:40 Outro: 12:00 ~~~~~ The main point I'd like you to take away from this lesson is the idea that not everything has to be made from scratch. There is so much processing and modulation that is added to most SFX, that at the end of the day, you can really use anything. As long as you have a good ear and understand what it SHOULD sound like, you are all set. Using these premade library sounds only increase productivity in a professional setting when time is of the essence. No one wants to simple take library assets, plop them into your project, and call it "your sound design" - in this video I show you how to process things to bring them up to your own standard, making them essentially unrecognizable from the original sounds, yet sounding better and more suited for your project. For this sound we used soundminer to grab sounds from soundmorph Gore library, boom medieval library, and boom creature foley library. With the right processing and layering, we create a sound that is completely unique and well-suited for any game, tv show, commercial/trailer, or movie. Editing Sound FX is no easy task, be sure to subscribe to expose yourself to top tier sound design tutorials made for the beginner-intermediate editor/engineer/designer, college student, high school student, or young professional who is looking to take their sound design to greater heights.
