Sony A7 III vs Hasselblad X1D II 50C Image Quality Comparison
Sony A7 III vs Hasselblad X1D II 50C Image Quality Comparison
While I had the Hasselblad X1D II 50C on loan I thought it would be interesting to compare the quality of images it produces to my own Sony A7 III.
During the test the Sony A7 III had a Sony FE 85mm F1.8 prime lens while the Hasselblad had a Hasselblad 120mm F3.5 prime lens attached. I took three shots all at the same time and within seconds of each other for image quality comparison purposes.
It’s not exactly a fair comparison and, as expected, the Hasselblad came out on top, but not by as wide a margin as you might think. I simply wanted to make this video so you can use this information in deciding if spending the extra money on the Hasselblad medium format system, over a full-frame system such as the Sony A7 III is going to be worth the extra outlay for you.
For the record, I bought the Sony A7 III over the Xmas period (2020) while Sony had a £400 cash-back deal, which was automatically deducted during the check-out stage on Amazon, which meant I didn’t have to pay the usual full price in advance and then apply to Sony online and wait a month to get that money back.
