Solar Power is About to Explode - my conversation with a solar pioneer - Open Solar's Birchy
This week I had the opportunity to meet Andrew Birch - better known as 'Birchy' who is a pioneer in the solar industry. Co-founder of Open Solar and a range of other businesses over the years, Birchy is influential in the solar world.
Birchy's modelling suggests that we are at a significant uptick in solar deployment world wide, so much so, we may see 50% of all energy globally generated by solar power by 2035. This would be a significant change, and something that would have a meaningful impact on energy systems all around the world.
In this conversation we hear a bit about this modelling and Birchy's vision for a low emissions future. We talk a bit about the challenge in the UK and what individuals should be focussed on to have a real impact.
It was great to meet Birchy - thanks to my pal Thom Whiffen for making the introduction!
I look forward to 2035 and the transformation that an electrified economy, powered by solar power, would bring to our communities.
