In this video, I take a look at another KVM over USB device: the NanoKVM-USB. KVM over USB devices are useful for controlling another machine that is nearby your PC/laptop without requiring any network access.
In light of @apalrdsadventures video (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plJGZQ35Q6I), I decided to take some time to dig into the security of the USB version of the NanoKVM (at a much higher level) to determine if it might be trying to communicate with sketchy servers and punching holes in the firewall, etc.
Fortunately, I believe the NanoKVM-USB has less security issues due to the difference in design of the device. It requires a hosted webapp (on a local system, local network, or on a public server). The web app is designed to run fully local and does not require any Internet access to use it. Because of this, there is no authentication in the web app, but you could easily put it behind an authentication mechanism such as Authentik or Authelia,
