Single Point Threading, Using A Followrest. 24 Inches of 2"-4 1/2TPI Threads
This job is now a repeat job that I did a year ago for a new customer. When I first did this job, I had never used a Followrest. It was a learning experience for me, and I am still learning how to do it. But, the job came out great, the customer is happy, and life continues.
Threading course threads takes a lot of torque, and the Lion Lathe has the torque needed. The main reason I landed this job was not many other shops have the equipment to handle this.
Watch as I take very heavy roughing passes to get down to the point of finishing. There was a lot of chatter, but we made adjustments and got through. I am guessing a better grade of material would have helped this problem considerably, but I was only following customer specs.
