Spoon Carving ASMR - No talking
In this video, I carved a cherry wooden spoon using only hand tools and showed the process from start to finish. I started with a billet of wood, which I kept in a tub of water to keep the moisture. When carving using only hand tools, it’s better to have a moist wood instead of dry wood. It’s easier on my tools and my hands.
I really liked the light and dark contrast of this cherry wood. I picked up this wood while on a trip in Washington state. Brought it back to Alaska to carve.
I started with an axe to get the rough shape of the spoon. I then used a sharp knife to refine the shape then a hook knife to hollow the bowl.
I prefer using just hand tools compared to using power tools. It’s quieter and I find it relaxing. I also enjoy the sounds that the process makes. It’s slow. That’s the idea. I hope you enjoy the video and I hope you find it relaxing and satisfying.
Thanks for watching.
