Should you use AI to create charts now, instead of Excel/Tableau/etc.?

Is this just more AI hype, or is it time to switch from dataviz tools like Excel/Tableau/etc.? ❓ Is AI easier and/or faster? ❓ Can AI handle the kinds of charts that you need to create? How good are the results? ❓ How much expert help does AI need? Can it produce well-designed charts without human intervention? ❓ Are the charts that AI produces reliable and accurate? Having put various AIs through their chart-making paces in recent weeks, I can say that the answer is a resounding “it depends.” Sometimes it makes sense to use AI but there are important caveats in doing so, and sometimes a tool like Excel or Tableau will be the better choice.
