But is it similar enough to be a copyright infringement? I read the books to find out: Despite Red Queen coming out in 2015 almost a full 10 years before Powerless, people were quick to call out the author, Victoria Aveyard, for “copying” Powerless. Despite the fact that her book came out first. But looking past the general synopsis, there are WAY more similarities between these books. So, I made a list of 35 SIMILARITIES between these books ranging from passing resemblance to word-for-word copy. All in an effort to determine if the author of Red Queen is, hypothetically, within her rights to sue for copyright infringement.
