Shooting the Maynard Tape Primer - A pre-Civil War good idea that didn't work out

Shooting a rifle-musket with the Maynard tape primer system. The Maynard patent system was adopted in 1855 for US Army rifles like the Model 1855 rifle-musket, but it didn’t hold up to the rigors of the battlefield. The tapes were susceptible to moisture and the system had to be kept perfectly dry and clean. In spite of its faults, the Maynard system is fascinating and is very, very fun to shoot!
