Prince William and Kate Middleton have been more focused than normal on their children of late, with decisions needing to be made over where their school careers will take them and how that issue should be handled. Charlotte, George and Louis have been kept relatively far from the public eye and this is by design, and also in contrast to how their father was brought up. Princess Diana always made a special effort to ensure that Prince Harry and William had as close to a normal upbringing as is possible for members of the British Royal Family, which meant taking them to the cinema and McDonald's etc. They once visited Thorpe Park and were photographed many times with their mother enjoying the rides. There is a lot less in the way of images like this of William and Kate's children, as though have chosen to give their children a higher level of privacy as they grow up. Kensington Palace actually released a statement in 2015 as a reaction to the paparazzi harassment of George when he was a baby. Part of the statement read: "Despite this [cooperation from some of the press], paparazzi photographers are resorting to increasingly extreme lengths to observe and monitor Prince George's movements and covertly capture images of him to sell to the handful of international media titles still willing to pay for them. A recent incident just last week was disturbing, but not uncommon. A photographer rented a car, parked in a discreet location outside a children's play area, concealed himself with darkened windows and sheets inside the vehicle, and created a hide stocked with food and drinks to endure a full day of surveillance, hoping to capture images of Prince George. Police discovered him lying down in the boot of the vehicle, attempting to shoot photos with a long lens through a small gap in his hide." In an interview with the UK print media in Cape Town, South Africa last November, William said that school takes priority over duties for his three young children. "Family-wise, you'll have to wait a little bit longer because obviously they're at school and I think that takes priority over everything else," William said. According to the Daily Mail, while explaining the correct way to apply the brakes “to squeeze both brakes at the same time putting safety first" William brought up another quirky things his kids like to do during family bike rides. “My children quite like pulling just the back brake and sliding along,” he said about their habit to skid past him. “Usually the back wheel will come past you. There is a technique.” Despite the fact that Prince William and Kate Middleton are next in line for the throne, the parents aim to give their kids the most normal childhood as possible.
