Sawing a Massive Sipo Log into Live Edge Boards | Full Process
In this video, a large Sipo log is halved using a cross-cutting chainsaw. The freshly cut ends are sealed with a wax-based spray to prevent drying cracks, and the log is then cleaned with a pressure hose to remove dirt and loose bark.
Next, the log is placed onto a carriage and cut into live edge boards using a bandsaw.
At the end of the video, selected boards are sprayed with water to reveal the wood’s beautiful Pommélé grain patterns.
Pommélé is a term used to describe a figured wood grain pattern that appears as small, rounded, cloud-like or dappled marks on the surface of the wood — it almost looks like a hammered or pebbled effect.
