Salzburg Travel Vlog: The Sound of Music, Hohensalzburg Fortress, Hotel Schloss Leopoldskron & more

Welcome to Salzburg, a city straight out of a storybook! In this vlog, we take you through an unforgettable journey of history, charm, and The Sound of Music magic. Our adventure begins at the stunning Schloss Leopoldskron, where we stayed during our time in Salzburg. This historic hotel, famously featured in The Sound of Music, is a dream to wake up to. After exploring the beautiful gardens and the Max Reinhardt Library, we indulged in a hearty dinner at Bärenwirt, one of Salzburg’s oldest and most beloved inns. The evening ended with a peaceful stroll along the Salzach River, crossing the Makartsteg (Love Lock Bridge), and wandering through the charming streets of Mozartplatz and Kapitelplatz. The next day, we explored the iconic Hohensalzburg Fortress, a masterpiece of medieval architecture. From the inner courtyard to St. George’s Chapel and even the original cannons overlooking the city, every corner told a story. Of course, the panoramic views of Salzburg from the fortress were breathtaking. We didn’t stop there! We made our way to Mirabellgarten, reliving iconic moments from The Sound of Music. A quick rain shower led us into Mirabell Palace, but truthfully, there wasn’t much to see inside. Later, we revisited Getreidegasse, hunting for the perfect music box, and stumbled upon a magical all-year-round Christmas shop that felt like stepping into a holiday dream. Finally, we capped off the day with a visit to Café Sacher. After missing it in Vienna, we couldn’t wait to try the famous Salzburger Nockerl here in Salzburg.
