Russian ELEKTRICHKA "Yakhroma" - Soviet retro or plastic fake?

In December 2020, Russian Railways implemented the Yakhroma retro service project to revive Soviet skiing traditions. From January to March, the retro train ER2K-980 (in Russia we call electric trains "elektrichka") ran daily from Moscow to the small town of Yakhroma, located 50 km from Moscow, known to Muscovites as the "Moscow Alps". Thanks to the relief, ski resorts were organized near Yakhroma. As part of the retro service, the passengers of the Soviet train were transferred to rare Ikarus buses, which carried them from the railway station directly to the places of rest. Buses "Ikarus" and "round-faced" electric trains ER2 are remembered and loved by all the inhabitants of the former USSR. Electric train (ELEKTRICHKA) ER2K-980 was built in 1972 in Riga. Until the end of 2018, it was operated in St. Petersburg, and then in Tula. Since August 2019, the train has participated in official events as a "retro train". At the end of 2020, the train began to run between Moscow and Yakhroma as a "ski train" and worked until mid-March 2021. ER2K-980 reflects the image of the "Soviet electric train" - with a round cabin, wooden benches and green color. Railway fans expected the train to be on the line again at the end of 2021, but this did not happen. The train has been retired.
