Prepare to see two rather spectacular mishaps... This week, I'm scaling up the red stoneware pots I've been making. I'll be throwing and trimming a 2.5 kg vase made from a 50/50 mix of PS 690, (the coarse red stoneware), and ES80, (the smoother high-iron clay), together with a sprinkling of bronze filings to add a bit more life, albeit subtle. I cover all the steps that go into throwing larger amounts of clay like this, together with the process of refining the vessel once it has turned leather hard. Thereafter we continue the journey... the pot is waxed, badly, glazed, badly and finally reduction fired and the final object unpacked from my gas kiln.
Thanks so much for taking your time to watch and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
