Romanticizing Winter ❄️💌 making a victorian puzzle purse & homemade strawberry pop tarts

Wintering. A time to breathe deep, slow down and listen to the earth’s silent waiting while it rests before the birth of spring to come. Wintering can be a time to be attune to nature’s secrets during this season which is to slow down, rest often & turn inward until the time comes to bloom in new ways. Winter is often cold & dark and so we tend to hibernate indoors more & more while we wait for longer, brighter days ahead. And instead of absorbing the darkness & gloominess within me I try to be the soft, gentle candle light within - creating an inviting space for me to enjoy in the winter months. Light becomes a feature in my home as I turn on all the small lamps, plug in the fairy lights & light the candles. I romanticize the mundane, daily activities to give meaning to my days & I take part in simple experiences that delight my soul - like baking, reading, painting or making things with my hands. These are all the ways in which winter becomes an invited friend into my life that I can enjoy fully until it is time for her to leave & spring begins to maker her entrance. I hope you might find & create small joys & magic this winter too & embrace her with open arms, an open mind & an open heart & remember that the light is returning more & more each day….and that you can be your own light in the waiting too.
