This Shop Made Tools Project is to build a Push Tool for the Colchester and the Toolmaster Lathes.
This is a multi-use tool, not only for aligning work in both the X and Y Axes but it is strong enough to be used as a Burnisher as well.
The tool has extra-large bearings to allow for a rear mounted socket head cap screw and with minimal stick out on the working side of the bearing this allows the tool to be used close to a shoulder.
This project could be seen as a follow on from the ‘Diamonds & Balls’ project as I am making a tool that is a useable burnisher.
We will compare the performance of this tool with the Ball Burnisher from the previous build, adding to the lessons learned about burnishing.
