Risk Management within the Hospital Setting

Dato' Dr Jacob discusses, at Medical Festival Asia 2020, how hospitals manage their risk, and in-turn risk exposure of patients. The session looks at understanding risk management and enterprise risk management (ERM) systems, the risk management process and fostering a safety culture. Speaker: Dato’ Dr Jacob Thomas Group Medical Advisor of Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care Bio: Dato’ Dr Jacob Thomas, a medical doctor, has a vast experience in hospital management, having served in various capacities at Subang Jaya Medical Centre, including as its Executive Director from 1998 till 2006. He is currently the Group Medical Advisor of Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care. Dr Jacob Thomas has also been the President of the Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia (APHM) since 2008 and is a member of the Consultative Panel of Healthcare sector of the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC). He serves as a Councillor of the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH), a member of the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC). Dr Thomas today works closely with various NGOs and Government agencies to promote Malaysian Healthcare both locally and internationally. He is a Steering Committee Member of the National Key Economic Areas (NKEA) for Healthcare. An initiative of the Malaysian Government Since July 2013, he holds the position of Chairman of the newly formed Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care Group. Dr Jacob has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Joint Commission International (JCI) effective 20 June 2014.
