R.I.P. Saints Row | A Franchise Retrospective

In 1996 Volition, then known as Parallax Software, was created and released their first game known as Descent. For the next few years, Volition would experiment with many different genres and franchises from the Red Faction series to 2004's Punisher, until finally finding their calling with the Saints Row franchise in 2006. The series was a hit with the original trilogy being the peak of the franchise, until the studio was bought by Deep Silver in 2013 where their next few games would struggle to live up to the originals. Volition would try to revitalize the franchise by rebooting it in 2022, only seal their own fate by releasing one of the worst games of that year. The horrible reception Saints Row 2022 received led to Volition being shut down in August of 2023. And with Volition being the only team to ever work on Saints Row as well as the series' reputation being in the gutter, its looking like Saints Row will likely die alongside Volition...
