♛ Find the complete chess game of Akiba Rubinstein shown in the video in this blog-post - https://chess-teacher.com/bishops-opening-boi-variation/
In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov analyzes one of the greatest chess games ever played: Akiba Rubinstein vs. Karel Hromadka. Through this brilliant game, you'll discover one of the best chess opening systems for White—the Bishop's Opening.
The Bishop's Opening arises after 1.e4 e5 2.Bc4. Specifically, you'll learn the Boi Variation, which follows with 2...Nf6 3.d3 Bc5 4.Nc3 Nc6 5.f4.
In this variation, White deliberately delays developing the kingside knight in order to play f4 first. This creates an improved version of the King's Gambit or Vienna Gambit, allowing White to expand on the kingside and launch an attack without taking significant risks or sacrificing material.
This aggressive variation has been extremely effective for GM Smirnov—even when he was an intermediate player, he was able to defeat International Masters and Grandmasters with it.
Watch the full game to see how Rubinstein utilized this opening and delivered a powerful middlegame attack. His brilliant queen sacrifice, described by 5th World Champion Max Euwe as 'one of the most astonishing moves in chess history,' is a must-see!
