Rebuilding My Aventon Mataro Fixed Wheeled Bicycle From Scratch
Immerse yourself into this satisfying video showing you step by step on how I rebuilt my Aventon Mataro Fixie.
These are the steps I followed:
• Disassembly of parts
• Apply paint remover + remove old paint
• Sand and smooth down the parts that will be sprayed using various levels of sand paper. (Preparation is the most important and key stage when it comes to spraying)
• Sanitise and clean the parts before laying primer
• Lay 3 coats of primer (allow 20 mins between each coat in a well ventilated area, allow 24 hours to dry after last coat before laying paint)
• Flatten primer by using a really fine grit sand paper to smoothen out the primer to allow for best chance of laying good paint
• Lay 3 coats of British Green Racing paint (allow 20 mins between each coat in a well ventilated area, allow 24 hours to dry after last coat before laying clear coat, lacquer). This colour was chosen as a tribute to my car.
• Lay 3 coats of clear coat, lacquer (allow 20 mins between each coat in a well ventilated area, allow 7 days for paint to harden)
• Assembly of bike with new parts (miche postcard air crankset kit)
• Stickers application
