RARE 1900s Dental Cabinet Restoration
This piece was 100% solid oak (I believe tiger oak), making it one of the heaviest pieces of furniture I’ve ever had the pleasure of shimmying around my garage. I picked it up for $400 from an auction which is more than I would normally spend—especially given the sorry condition it was in when I got it—but the quality of the bones and utility made it totally worth the price. What caught my eye the most was the roll top door and the inner shelves that have these cool slide mechanisms that allow them to pull out completely (this is why I love old furniture.) The main woodworking portion of the project consisted of building a new skirt since the old one looked 900 years old, and building a new drawer since one was missing.
